Heys 4WD Upright Luggage - 30" Review

We purchased four of these orange colored 30" Heyes cases last year, along with a 21 inch carry-on. Mostly, we wanted distinctive-looking luggage that was sturdy, roomy and especially easy to identify as it moved around the carousel at the airport. All of these qualities were met, especially the easy-to-see orange color that allows us to quickly ID each case. No other piece of luggage looks anything like ours.
The cases are roomy enough and they easily expand an extra few inches if necessary to hold bulky objects or extra thick clothing.. The case material is a space-age resin, that is very sturdy. Most marks wipe clean. The only minor down side are the wheels. The lugggage stands and pivots(spins)on 4 small wheels. It can be pulled on the narrow wheelbase, which allows the carry-on to easily get through narrow aisles. Because the wheels are small, it is a little more difficlt to pull the large cases, but this is a minor issue. Overall, these cases are strong, lightweight, very distinctive pieces and can be recommended to anyone willing to pay a little more for a better product.

I have had to replace both my sets of Heys luggage...more than once. The single handle bar is not strong enough to take the stress of more than 30 pounds of luggage. The handle will break. The suitcases crush in when handled by airlines. The stitching will rip apart. The knob used to depress the handle will stop working. And Heys will tell you that the damage is not covered by their 5-year replacement warranty, after you have driven 40 minutes to one of their authorized repair centers. Then they will offer to wholesale you a new suitcase, which would be a waste of money, considering that this luggage is designed to break. When the company actually did replace on of my six suitcases purchased from them, they sent me the most hideous bright orange case, to clash with my pink and blue sets. This company is a nightmare to deal with. Buyer beware.
